Allmans Heath Cottages are nestled one mile above the lovely Victorian town of Glossop, renowned as the Gateway to the Peaks, which boasts plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants, and an 18 hole golf course. Glossop has two parks; one has a Victorian swimming pool and ornamental gardens and the other has a model ‘ride on’ railway, tennis courts, bowling green and a crazy golf course.
The nearby spa town of Buxton, pretty Bakewell (which has a busy agricultural market on Monday’s), Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Eyam, Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine country) all offer a lovely day out.
Numerous scenic walks, including the Longendale Trail, radiate from the town and the many attractions of the National Park can be enjoyed from the doorstep.
Public transport is available from Glossop town centre with bus services out of town and regular trains into Manchester.
